Volume 3 Issue 2 – July 2014

Dear Readers and Contributors,

We are happy the way this issue has shaped up. The English Literature has a host of articles researching various facets, provides the English Literature students, scholars and learners browse with wide eyed wonder. Just reading the host of titles is thrilling; imagine the storehouse of information and author’s perspective would add to it. In English Language Teaching, we have writings which explore newer angles in chartered areas on one hand and on the other we have assertive ideas on ‘Learner Autonomy’ which is the order of the day. The section English & Communication Skills has various writings on various methods to enhance English and simultaneously hone the skills required. The English creative section has five poems, continuing the effect of the special poetry issue released in May 2014 and also hinting at the exclusive short story issue that is coming up soon.

The authors are also very strongly encouraged to write down their thoughts, along with referenced research papers, pertinent to these three prominent areas, necessarily original.

Abida Farooqui is an Assistant Professor, Department of English at Government College, Kodenchery, Kerala. She is at present Member Syndicate, University of Calicut. She has published articles in many reputed journals and presented papers in various national and international conferences.

Afroza Akhter Tina is a Lecturer in the department of English at IBAIS University, an Adjunct at the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) and is also an editorial member in the BPDM Journal of Research.

Dr. Anil Verma is an Assistant Professor at Lovely Professional University, Jalandhar. He has done research on D. H. Lawrence. Besides Communicative English, he also teaches Research Methodology and Critical theories.

Dr. Anshu Raina is an Assistant Professor at Lovely Professional University, Jalandhar. She has done research on D. H. Lawrence. Besides Communicative English, she also teaches Neo-Post Colonial and New Literature in English.

Asma Arshi is a post graduate in English Literature, from University Of Kashmir. She is a voracious reader and writer. Her area of interest is Contemporary Literature.

Avinash T is working as Associate Professor in the Dept of English, Sahyadri Arts College, Shimoga, Karnataka. Areas of interest are- Literary Theory, Film Studies, Cultural Studies and Fiction in Native Language.

Azam Ataeiniya is a Ph.D. research scholar, Anna University , Chennai . She is very interested in Afro-American literature and Indian English literature. Currently she is concentrating on comparative literature. English literature is her passion and teaching English is her aspiration.

Dr. S. C. Bamarani has been in the profession of teaching since 2003. She was conferred with the Doctor of Philosophy in the year 2011. Her area of interest is fiction and poetry in general. She is presently working as an Asst. Professor in Jerusalem College of Engineering, Chennai.

P. Bindhu is working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of English at SCSVMV University, Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu. Her areas of interest are Post colonial Literature and Indian Writing in English.

Dhurjjati Sarma presently, is an Assistant Professor of English at the Kaziranga University, Jorhat. He engages himself in research related to literature, culture and North East India. His areas of interest include poetry, translation and travelling.

Gurmangeet Kaur Baath is a Research Scholar in the Department of English and Cultural Studies, Panjab University, Chandigarh and is based in Zirakpur, Punjab, India.

Dr. Hareshwar Roy is currently teaching English at Govt. Autonomous P.G. College Satna, Madhya Pradesh. He has attended a number of seminars and conferences. His area of interest is the writing of the writers of Indian diaspora.

Insha Siraj is currently working as a Lecturer in Islamia College of Science Fand Commerce, Hawal, Srinagar. She is a research scholar in the Department of English, University of Kashmir. Her expertise is in African American Literature.

Ishita Patel is Ph.D scholar of English Literature at the Kadi Sarva Vishwavidyalay, Gandhinagar, Gujarat. Her area of research is Diaspora studies.

Dr. Namrata Bajaj is a professor of Communication Skills and English at United World School of Business, Uvarsad, Gandhinagar, Gujarat. Her articles have been published in many national and international journals.

Prof. Jagdish Batra, Head, English Language Centre, O.P. Jindal Global University, Sonepat (NCR) specializes in Indian English Fiction. The six books published by him include: 21st Century Indian English Novel, Form and Style in Indian English Fiction, A New Approach to Literary Theory and Criticism, etc.

Dr. Jayshree Singh, Senior Lecturer, Head, Deptt. of English, Bhupal Nobles Post-Graduate College, Udaipur. Around 32 papers published. She is interested in Travelling, Editing, Anchoring, and Writing Critical Research Papers on the readings of fiction and non-fiction.

Dr. J V N Mallikarjuna is an associate professor of English at Bhavan’s New Science College and R. K Math, Hyderabad. He has presented several articles to International and National Seminars and Journals. He is also a freelance journalist.

Bangla Bharathi is a senior lecturer in English. She contributed many articles. She is also F.M Radio Mirchi announcer.

Dr. Mojgan Abshavi teaches in Department of English, Payame Noor University, Iran. Her Ph.D. is on Black American Literature. Her other publications reflect her multidimensional interests.

Naveen Kumar. K works as an Assistant Professor at Chaitanya Bharathi Institute of Technology, Hyderabad. He is a passionate bilingual poet, writes in English and Telugu. His areas of interest are ELT, literature and Education Technology. He is also interested in short fiction and translation.

Neelam Dasgupta is a research scholar and is pursuing her Ph. D in American Confessional Literature from Manav Rachna International University, Faridabad. She is also working as Assistant Professor with Lingaya’s Lalita Devi Institute of Mgmt & Sciences, a B School affiliated to GGSIP University, New Delhi.

Dr Jyoti Sharma, is a veteran academician and has many research papers and books to her credit and presently she is associated with Manav Rachna International University, Faridabad in the capacity of Assistant Professor in FET, department of H&M.

A. Phaniraja Kumar is a Research Scholar, Acharya Nagarjuna University, Guntur. His interest area is Indian Writings in English. At present, he is working in Engineering College in Proddatur as part-time faculty.

Dr. P. Satyanarayana is currently working as Vice-Principal, Balaji College of Education, ATP, A P. India. He has 35years of experience in teaching so far. His areas of interests are ELT, Modern Fiction & New English Literatures.

Dr. Praveena Kaushal is a Lecturer, Dept. of English, Govt. M.L.B. Girls P.G. (Auto.) College Bhopal, M.P. She has 25years experience of teaching English. She has published and presented several papers in national and international journals and conferences. She has published a book also.

Rema. V is currently pursuing her Ph. D which is based on Novels of Amitav Ghosh. With teaching experience of 15 years, she has presented papers at National & International conferences and published articles in reputed journals.

Dr. Ritu Pareek has done her Ph.D. from the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, Malaviya National Institute of Technology, Jaipur. She has presented papers based on her research and on English Language Teaching in many national and international conferences.

Dr. Preeti Bhatt, Assistant Professor in English at Malaviya National Institute of Technology, Jaipur. Dr Bhatt co-edited many books and has also co-edited the Proceedings of an International Conference. Dr. Bhatt has worked on Research Projects funded by the British Council and by the University Grants Commission, New Delhi.

Md. Saquib Abrar teaches in the Department of English, Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh. His areas of interest include Modern Drama, Contemporary Literary Theory, and Indian Writing in English.

D. Sarulatha, presently working as Assosiate Professor at Karpagam Engineering College. She has 12 years experience in teaching field dealing both in Language & Literature. Her passion is teaching. She is an IELTS trainer.

Dr. Shahid Imtiaz is a PhD in English Literature from University of the Punjab Lahore, Pakistan. Currently he is Chairman Department of English Language and Literature at Govt. Islamia College Railway Road Lahore, Pakistan, affiliated with University of the Punjab, Lahore Pakistan.

Shiva Durga, Asst. Professor in English, Dept. Of Applied Sciences and Humanities, GLA University, Chaumuha, Mathura, U.P. India. She has Presented 16 Research papers, written 3 Books, and Published 6 Research Papers.

Prof. Shubha Tiwari is professor & Head, Dept of English at APS University, Rewa, MP, India. She has written and edited 12 books and has authored 280 research papers. Currently she is Dean Faculty of Arts at her university.

M. D. Suman Prasad is currently a research scholar pursuing his PhD in the Department of Indian and World Literature at the English and Foreign Languages University. His area of interest lies in the discursive nature of Power and Resistance in the texts of Caribbean authors writing in English.

Vasanthi Vasireddy is an Associate Prof. of English, works at Dhanekula Institute of Engg. &Tech., Vijayawada. Her areas of interest are women literature and children’s literature.

Dr. N.S. Vishnu Priya is currently working as Assistant Professor (Senior) of English in VIT University, Vellore. She has 19 years of teaching experience and is currently guiding students for their Ph.D. She has also translated short stories from Tamil and Telugu languages into English.

D. J. B. Esther Rajathi, Assistant Professor, Department of English, Jerusalem College of Engineering, has been in teaching profession for the past 6 years. Her areas of interest are African-American literature, Feminism in literature and ELT.

Geetha Venkatesh is an Assistant professor working with Jerusalem College of Engineering, currently resides in Chennai. She is interested in writing poems, short stories and creative contents for websites. Her main area of research interest is Dystopian Fiction and Archetypal contents in fiction.

Indumati Nelluru has been working as an Assistant Professor of English at Aditya Institute of Technology and Management, Tekkali, Srikakulam district, Andhra Pradesh. She is interested in English Language Teaching and Translations.

Abdul Ameen Mahammad, School Assistant, English, Srikakulam District, Andhra Pradesh, has seven years of Teaching proficiency in Engineering Colleges. He is interested in Vocabulary teaching and has presented a few papers at National and International Conferences.

Dr. P.K. Jain is a Professor and Head Dept. of English, Govt autonomous P.G. College, Satna. He has published 04 books. He has guided 5 Ph. D scholars into awarding the title with another 06 under his guidance. Published several research papers, attended several national and international seminars and has chaired sessions.

M. Jayakrishnan is a teacher in English at C.A.Higher Secondary school, Ayakkad in Kerala. He is also a research scholar under the guidance of Dr. G. K. Chithra in Karpagam University, Coimbatore. His areas of interest are ELT and Stylistics.

Dr. G. K. Chithra is a professor of English at Hindustan college of Engineering, Coimbatore. Her areas of interest are ELT, Linguistics and Astrology. She has 17 years of experience in teaching language and literature in various colleges.

Dr. J. John Sekar is Head (UG) & Associate Professor of English and Dean, Curriculum Development & Research at the American College, Madurai, TN. He has published more than thirty research articles on ELT in international Journals and presented more than 50 ELT papers in national and international conferences.

Dr. Naveen K Mehta is presently working as an Associate Professor and Head, Communication Skills Department, Mahakal Institute of Technology, Ujjain (MP). He has more than 15 years of Research, Academic and Teaching experience.

Dr Meenal Rathore is working as a Reader-Communication Skills Department, Mahakal Institute of Technology, Ujjain. She has a keen interest in research in the field of Communication and Soft Skills as well as in English Literature and her specialization is in Indian writing in English.

Noora Abdul Kader is a Junior Research Fellow, Department of Education, University of Calicut, Kozhikode, Kerala.

Prashanti G is pursuing PhD from Osmania University. She has been in teaching since 2009. Her research interest is in the area of English Language Teaching (phonetics).

S. Ramanathan works as an Assistant Professor of English ion VHNSN College, Virdhunagar, Tamil Nadu. An interested scholar in literature and linguistics he contributes variously and veraciously to criticism.

Dr. G. Reddi Sekhar Reddy, Assistant Professor of English. He is the author of four books on English grammar, communication skills and soft skills. He has an active role as its Secretary and he is founding editor of ELT@I Tirupati Chapter Journal of English Language and Literature.

Dr. Salma Al-Humaidi obtained her PhD from the USA in 2002. She is currently working as an assistant professor of ELT at Sultan Qaboos University, Sultanate of Oman. Currently, she is working on investigating the qualities of English language teachers in Oman.

Salim Al-Khayari has an MA in English language education in 2011 from Sultan Qaboos University. He has been working as an English regional supervisor for 8 years. His research interest is teacher education and reflective teaching.

Sharmishtha Singh is presently working as a Senior Lecturer at Amity University Lucknow. Her area of interest is communication skills and soft skills. She guides students’ of various streams for placements & recruitment.

Shivani is working as Assistant Professor in English at Post Graduate Govt. College for Girls, Chandigarh. She is pursuing Ph.D. from Panjab University, Chandigarh. Her main areas of interest are Second Language Acquisition and English Language Teaching.

D. Uma Devi has been teaching students at the undergraduate level. She has been a research scholar in the field of ELT for the past two years, analyzing the learner’s problems in writing sill.

Umamaheswara Rao Bontha is currently working in the English Language Unit at Foundation Program in Dhofar University. He is the placement test coordinator. His interests include English Language Teaching (ELT) and action research.

Ashesava Majumdar, the author is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Humanities (English) in Camellia Institute of Technology, Kolkata. Area of interest is young learners and in the broad spectrum- certain areas in English Literature and English Language Teaching.

Bedashree Das is a PhD scholar (ELT) from Assam University. She completed her M.A. (English) from Institute of Advanced Studies in English, Pune.

J. Jehoson Jiresh is an Assistant Professor in the PG & Research Department of English, The American College. Madurai. He is interested in exploring non conventional methods of teaching English through sports, music, and movies. Other than ELT, his areas of interest in teaching are Literary Theories, English for Mass Media and Sports Journalism.

Dr. K Pramila, M.A., M.Phil, Phd, HOD, PSGIT & AR, Coimbatore, has around 15 years of teaching experience both in India and abroad. She has also trained school and college English teachers, has many years of experience in IELTS and soft skills training

Rajesh Dubasi is working as an Asst.Prof. in English in Aditya Institute of Technology And Management (AITAM), Tekkali. Interest in teaching made him to finish B.Ed in English methodology. He has an experience of Ten years in teaching English for different levels of students.

Shobana Unni is a Post Graduate in Communicative English and for the past four years working as Assistant Professor in Vellammal Engineering College, Tamil Nadu. Job profile includes training Engineering and Management aspirants in Interview skills, Group Discussion apart from enhancing their English language speaking ability.

Dr Tamal Guha is an Assistant Professor & Head, Department of English, Indian Naval Academy. He has been teaching English to naval cadets at the academy since August 2000.

Dr Varalakshmi Chaudhry has about two decades of teaching ESL. Her specialization is SLA, ELT and Applied Linguistics. She has published about 30 research articles till now.

Dr. Abhishek Kosta is presently working as an Associate Prof. English in Govt. Degree College, Patan, Jabalpur.(M.P.) has to his credit five International and more than ten National Research papers published.

Prof. S.A. Harish Rajaraman is working as an Assistant Professor of English at SASTRA University. He has seven years of teaching experience and his areas of interests are Teaching Shakespeare and British Poetry.

Dr. Rachna Rastogi, Assistant Professor in Applied Sciences and Humanities Department of GLA University. She is keenly interested in Creative writing too. Some of her poems are published in renowned journals and currently she is guiding Research Scholar in the field of Cultural Diaspora.

Dr. Rizwana Banu is an Assistant Professor of English, J.B.A.S.College forWomen,Chennai. Her area of specialization is American literature and is keenly interested in British literature and Contemporary literature and study.

Udiyannoor Sankaranarayanan, Malayalam poet, whose poems raise their voice against the tide of times. There is anger, sarcasm, cynicism, tenderness, suspense and the voice of a radical in his poems.

Sandhya Gopakumaran is a language activist in her own right and a practitioner of the functional approach to communication teaching where she is employed. She took her PhD in English Literature from University of Hyderabad and lives in Hyderabad.
